SMTown-themed flashmobs coming alive in Los Angeles and New York

23 Jun

Los Angeles and New York have caught on to the flashmob craze that is sweeping the international k-pop scene! American fans of SM Entertainment artists are planning two flashmobs in LA and NY, reminiscent of the European protests that helped instigate the realization of a second date for SMTOWN in Paris.

Los Angeles’s flashmob will occur on the upcoming date of Wednesday, July 6th. As written on the page, the flashmob coordinators are aiming for the rehearsal to begin at 11AM, and for the actual flashmob to commence at 2PM. Please keep in mind that these times are tentative and could shift in the future, though the date is certain. K-pop fans from far and wide have been instructed to meet up at the entrance of the Hollywood and Highland Center to begin activities.

The songs and dances that constitute the LA flashmob will be decided by the coordinators after a poll is sent out to incorporate the input of the masses. Participants will be able to vote on the songs/dances they personally favor.

New York’s flashmob is identically set to take place on July 6th, with the meeting time being 11AM and the flashmob to begin at 2PM. Participants are being informed to meet up in front of the Borders bookstore located above Penn Station and next to Madison Square Garden. Large signs with “SMTOWN NYC” inscribed on them will be held by coordinators to help direct meet-goers to the designated area.

After meeting up and rehearsing, the group will move to Pulitzer Fountain “in between the Apple Store on 5th Avenue by FAO Schwarz and Grand Army Plaza” to carry out the flashmob. If some may not be able to make it to the 11AM rehearsal, coordinators have stated that all are still very welcome to simply attend the flashmob itself at 2PM.

Fans are instructed to come to the NYC gathering in at least one article of pink attire, as close a pink as possible to the SM Entertainment pink color seen on banners.

Songs and dances that will be performed at the NYC flashmob have been demonstrated and mirrored on the SMTownNYC Youtube page. The dance sequence is also compiled in the following video for easy access.
