SMTown-themed flashmobs coming alive in Los Angeles and New York

23 Jun

Los Angeles and New York have caught on to the flashmob craze that is sweeping the international k-pop scene! American fans of SM Entertainment artists are planning two flashmobs in LA and NY, reminiscent of the European protests that helped instigate the realization of a second date for SMTOWN in Paris.

Los Angeles’s flashmob will occur on the upcoming date of Wednesday, July 6th. As written on the page, the flashmob coordinators are aiming for the rehearsal to begin at 11AM, and for the actual flashmob to commence at 2PM. Please keep in mind that these times are tentative and could shift in the future, though the date is certain. K-pop fans from far and wide have been instructed to meet up at the entrance of the Hollywood and Highland Center to begin activities.

The songs and dances that constitute the LA flashmob will be decided by the coordinators after a poll is sent out to incorporate the input of the masses. Participants will be able to vote on the songs/dances they personally favor.

New York’s flashmob is identically set to take place on July 6th, with the meeting time being 11AM and the flashmob to begin at 2PM. Participants are being informed to meet up in front of the Borders bookstore located above Penn Station and next to Madison Square Garden. Large signs with “SMTOWN NYC” inscribed on them will be held by coordinators to help direct meet-goers to the designated area.

After meeting up and rehearsing, the group will move to Pulitzer Fountain “in between the Apple Store on 5th Avenue by FAO Schwarz and Grand Army Plaza” to carry out the flashmob. If some may not be able to make it to the 11AM rehearsal, coordinators have stated that all are still very welcome to simply attend the flashmob itself at 2PM.

Fans are instructed to come to the NYC gathering in at least one article of pink attire, as close a pink as possible to the SM Entertainment pink color seen on banners.

Songs and dances that will be performed at the NYC flashmob have been demonstrated and mirrored on the SMTownNYC Youtube page. The dance sequence is also compiled in the following video for easy access.

[110429] SHINee Jonghyun to Appear in Idol Singing Contest

29 Apr

KBS will launch a new entertainment program in which idol singers will have singing battles

KBS Entertainment Department Chief said on April 29, “We are preparing an idol singing contest program to be launched at the end of next month as part of the Spring program change.”

Kwon Jaeyoung PD explained, “It is an idol version of “Immortal Masterpiece,” a corner of Happy Sunday, but it’s not a survival game that decides whom to drop.”

He continued, “We will focus on how the idol singers reinterpret the masterpiece in their own styles rather than on simply showing their singing ability.”

6 idol singers, including Sistar’s Hyorin, SHINee’s Jonghyun, 2AM’s Changmin, and BEAST’s Yoseob, are said to appear as contestants in the program.

2AM’s Changmin, along with Sistar’s Hyorin, SHINee’s Jonghyun, BEAST’s Yoseob, and two other idol singers will participate in a new show on KBS.

Kwon Jae Yong, the PD in charge, said, “Just like a corner from ‘Happy Sunday’ called ‘Eternal Masterpiece’ some time ago, we will have the idol version of it where idol singers are to sing all kinds of popular songs and there will be a winner. But the losers will not be determined based on survival method.”

SHINee’s new hairstyles for Japan debut revealed?

25 Apr

A mastering engineer from Sonic Korea recently tweeted that he was currently “mastering SHINee’s Japan debut single!”

It is speculated that SHINee will be shooting their PV next week. According to rumor, their music video concept will include Taemin as a “dancing machine,” Key as a fashion designer, Onew as a painter, Jonghyun as a singer, and Minho as an athlete. Another rumor says that SNSD’s Yoona will featured in the video.

A fan posted photos of both Taemin and Key with new hairstyles on a SHINee fan community, DC SHINee Gallery. The images show Taemin with red hair and Key with blonde hair. Minho and Onew, on the other hand, showed off their similar curly new hairstyles on Music Core. Jonghyun’s new look has yet to be revealed.

Taking in consideration both the tweet and new hairstyles, SHINee’s debut in Japan is predicted to take place sometime in May.

What do you think of their new hairstyles?
